Patient Info: FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists, like GPs, are first-contact practitioners and experts in their fields. A GP referral is only required should you wish to make a claim via the Medicare EPC Program or via DVA. Your GP will advise you if you are eligible for this

Do I need my doctor’s approval to see a physiotherapist?

No! Your physiotherapist and yourself are the best people to assess whether you would benefit from physiotherapy. Unfortunately, sometimes people are advised by others with a poor understanding of what physiotherapists do to wait or not to seek the help of a physiotherapist, when this is what they need most to recover from their injury. We are happy to liaise with your treating physician or specialist where appropriate.

Can I claim on my private health insurance?

Yes, if you have physiotherapy extras. Dynamic Health Physiotherapy has HICAPs on-the-spot claiming facilities available for your convenience – so you only need to pay the gap fee if there is one. We welcome all health funds, and we are also BUPA Members First Preferred Providers.

What should I expect at my appointment?

At your initial appointment, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of your current injury and past conditions and perform a thorough clinical assessment. After diagnosing your condition and discussing it with you, the physiotherapist will treat you using relevant physiotherapy techniques and formulate a tailor-made plan with you for management and optimal recovery.

How long is the appointment?

Appointments are usually about a generous 30 minutes of 1:1 contact with your physiotherapist. For complex or multiple areas of injury your physiotherapist may recommend a longer appointment at your next visit.

What do I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your X-rays, scans or reports relevant to your current condition. Bring your health fund card if you wish to use our HICAPS on-the-spot claiming facility.

Medicare EPC patients: are required to bring their valid referral and Medicare card.

TAC/ VWA/ DVA patients: please bring proof of your valid claim.

Patients on full aged pension: please bring in your concession card with CRN number to receive a concession rate.

For Physio Gym/ Clinical Pilates: please bring a water bottle and hand towel

What should I wear?

For physiotherapy consultations please wear comfortable and easy to remove clothing. Bras with a clasp at the back are the most convenient. And please wear underwear!

For Physio Gym/ Clinical Pilates – comfortable work out gear is fine. Do not wear anything too restrictive or too baggy. Socks are a must for Clinical Pilates – Grip Sox™ are available to purchase at the clinic.

Where is Dynamic Health Physiotherapy located?

We are a stand alone clinic located in the heart of Doncaster opposite Westfield Shoppingtown at 3 Williamsons Road, Doncaster VIC 3108. We are moments from the Eastern Freeway and there is a bus stop only metres from the clinic.

Where can I park?

This one is easy! We have a large, private car park on-site at the rear of the clinic off Carnarvon Street. Parking is easy, ample, and free. Rear access to the clinic is available with a few steps or a ramp leading right to our door.

Do you treat TAC and Workcover patients?

Yes we do. Bulk-billing is provided for these services but a gap fee is also charged.
For more information, please see our Workcover/TAC Payment Policy.

Do you treat DVA/ Veterans’ Affairs Patients?

Of course we do! Please bring your DVA card and referral letter with you. Bulk billing is provided. No gap fee is charged for DVA patients.

Do you accept Medicare EPC patients?

Yes we do. You must bring your valid EPC referral with you. A gap fee will apply.

How can I pay?

Dynamic Health Physiotherapy is a pay on the day clinic. All fees, including gap fees, must be paid on the day of service. Should you wish to claim via your health fund using our HICAPS facility, this can only be done on the day of service- otherwise a full receipt can be provided for you to claim direct from your fund.
We accept cash, debit cards and credit cards (we do not accept AMEX or cheques).

What are you fees?

Please refer to Fees.

Do you run on time?

Our physiotherapists do their best to always run on time. We understand that most people today are very busy and we know your time is important. Please help us run on time and make the most of your allocated appointment by arriving 5 minutes early.

What happens if I am late or miss my appointment?

If you are late you may not receive the full benefit of you allocated appointment time. If you are more than 20 minutes late, we consider this a missed appointment and fees may apply. 24 hours business notice is required to change or cancel an appointment, otherwise fees may apply. For more information please see our Late Cancellation and Failure to Attend Policy.
